This is a quide to what you will study in each year in KS3 History
Year 7You will start your journey with some basic history skills.
Then, you will be transported to the Roman Empire where you will learn about all aspects of Roman life. After this, you will be taken to the Medieval era, where you will study the Battle of Hastings, Castles, the Domesday Book and all aspects of life for ordinary people in the Middle Ages. |
Year 8You will begin Year 8 in the Tudor age, and look at all the most significant Tudor monarchs.
You will then experience the English Civil War, and find out why the English executed their King. After this, it is the Industrial Revolution. You will learn about the development of England's industry and technology, and the social issues this posed. Finally, you will explore the trans-Atlantic slave trade, and find out how this links in with the Industrial Revolution. |
Year 9Year 9 is all about the Modern World. You will start by looking at the causes of World War I, and explore the course of the War.
You will then look at the Russian Revolution, the end of the War and Europe in the 1920s. After this, you will see the rise of Hitler and the outbreak of the Second World War. There will be a period of study where you find out about the atrocities of the Holocaust and explore the moral questions this raises. Finally, you will look at Europe since 1945, including the Cold War and the conflict in Vietnam. |
